In order to encourage research in law and legal fields and to contribute to the improvement of our legal culture, each year a paper by an individual in the field of jurisprudence and one by a legal practitioner is selected to receive the Juridical Paper Award.
The recommended papers must be legal research articles authored by members of the Korean Society of Law, including judges, prosecutors, attorneys, constitutional court justices, constitutional researchers, law professors, legislative researchers, military judicial officers, and public service attorneys. Eligible papers must have been published in Justice, the Korean Society of Law’s accredited academic journal, between December of the year preceding the award year and October of the year prior to the ceremony. This includes case law research articles, but excludes dissertations and co-authored papers.
Candidate papers may be nominated either individually or jointly by institutions, academic societies, law schools, or university law faculties upon the Society’s request, as well as by editorial board members. The final award-winning papers are determined through a review process conducted by the Selection Committee, which is constituted in accordance with the Society’s regulations on legal research awards. The awards ceremony is held annually in February.
